1234567EXIF isn't embedded in the photo record. It's a separate social.grain.photo.exif record whose photo field is a plain at-uri pointing at the existing photo. So the fix is to write those records after the fact.
1. Pull EXIF from their original JPEGs (exiftool, exifr, etc.). 2. Match each original to its existing social.grain.photo URI. position on the gallery.item records is the easiest way to line them up with upload order. 3. createRecord a social.grain.photo.exif for each one with photo set to that URI, plus make, model, lensModel, iSO, fNumber, exposureTime, focalLengthIn35mmFormat, dateTimeOriginal, and flash.
Numeric fields are integers scaled by 1,000,000, so f/2.8 becomes 2800000 and 1/250s becomes 4000.
