Android WebView Browser

A WebView-based browser for testing on Android.

Android has system WebViews that differ in subtle ways from typical browsers. This app gives you a WebView with some browser chrome and exposed settings, so you can test pages or sites in a convenient way.

Two Google Pixels showing the app. One shows a web page with a small amount of browser chrome at the top, while the other shows a settings menu listing browser options and is obscured behind it.

Features #

  • Navigation: Forward, back, refresh, address bar.
  • WebView Information: View your WebView provider, version, and user-agent.
  • Allow/Disallow Features: Control over JavaScript, DOM storage, image loading, media autoplay, caching, hyperlink menus, the back-forward cache, payment requests, and more.
  • Privacy/Security Options: Manage cookies, allow invalid certificates, and more.
  • User-Agent Customisation: Edit your user-agent as you desire.
  • Request Debugging: Add extra request headers per origin and inspect navigation events and paint timings in the in-app console.
  • Material You: Follows your system palette on Android 12 and newer.
  • Wide Compatibility: Works on Android 6 and higher.

You can inspect the WebView loaded in the app by enabling USB Debugging or Wireless Debugging on Android, connecting your device to your computer, and then navigating to chrome://inspect/#devices in Chrome. You'll be provided with full browser DevTools. The experience is the same as opening DevTools for a standard Chromium-based browser or WebView.
