title basically.

A simple way to use an S3 compatible bucket (be it aws s3, cloudflare r2, seaweedfs, rustfs, ...) to host blobs, completely bypassing the local filesystem.

In addition to that, also a way to periodically backup the data store (file system and postgres) to an S3 bucket (encrypted)

S3 for blob storage is already supported. backups could be interesting though

docs?

"backups could be interesting though" @nel.pet sister WE HAD THIS, do you remember that you said that users should be responsible for their own backups not the PDS? now we no longer have it

nel.pet

the way you did it was weeeeeird. but also i do still kinda thing users should do that themselves tee bee haich

I do not have any trust in my server and PDS, and I think it would be way more work for me (or everyone) to hack a weird way to backup the folders and stuff to S3 periodically; compared to there being some proper rust script inside transquil that works on a cron to back it up automatically, enabled by some env flag(s).

even cocoon has that, and it saved my PDS multiple times
