walknot · walgit-test #

A Tangled knot re-architected around object-storage WALs — the Walgit “Git at any scale” model. The object store is the single source of truth; every local repo is a disposable cache.

Open index.html to see the live welcome page (it pings this knot in real time).

What this is #

  • A Tangled knot (did:web:walknot.shaunguimond.ca) — a headless git host on the AT Protocol.
  • A knot2 fork with the storage layer replaced. Identity, transport, and the external wire (xrpc + dag-cbor) are unchanged; the delta is where bytes live and how they’re served.

The model #

  1. Push → appended to a per-repo WAL in object storage (the commit point / truth).
  2. Serve → clones & fetches are served warm (cache) or cold (streamed from the store).
  3. Evict → drop the local cache at will; disk is a cache, not a record.
  4. Settle → compaction folds the log, retires unreachable objects, reclaims bytes.

Push / clone #

# SSH (git)
git clone git@walknot.shaunguimond.ca:did:plc:ezw6kx77xks5az7l544m2epm

# HTTP (smart)
git clone https://walknot.shaunguimond.ca/did:plc:ezw6kx77xks5az7l544m2epm

This repository is the first push to the knot — a tophat for the cold path, blobless clone, incremental fetch, and compaction.
