A gathered work group is drawn as hatched ground inside a dashed boundary, darker while its members are talking, and its node becomes a survey mark — a ring with ticks at the compass points that nothing else on the plate has. Work stays chalk, since every colour is an operator. The group's emoji badge is blitted from the sprite cache like every other emoji.
