# STAR application profiles

## Archive integrity

A STAR reader cannot detect early truncation at a data pair boundary. Profiles should define an integrity check, possibly using header metadata, such as:

 - the number of expected records
 - the MST root CID of the contained data, as in [atproto-public-repo](./application-profiles/atproto-public.md)
 - the LtHash over all contained data entries, as in [atproto-spaces-repo](./application-profiles/atproto-spaces.md)
