per https://docs.rs/url/latest/url/struct.Url.html#method.join, if the url's path doesn't end with a trailing slash, `Url::join` can replace part of the path, which is a massive footgun, imo. Assume that's not what the discovery doc writer wanted, and always force the joining one would expect. Part of MM-2
